Zelensky Claims 155 Chinese Nationals Fighting for Russia, Urges Global Scrutiny!

Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, has made a startling accusation, claiming that at least 155 Chinese citizens are actively engaged in combat against Ukrainian forces on behalf of Russia. This revelation follows the capture of two Chinese fighters earlier in the week, marking Kyiv's first formal assertion that China is providing manpower to Russia's war efforts.

Speaking to journalists, Zelensky emphasized that his government's intelligence indicates a significant number of Chinese nationals are involved in the conflict. "There are 155 people with surnames, with passport data - 155 Chinese citizens who are fighting against Ukrainians on the territory of Ukraine," he stated, according to reports.

China's Response In response to these allegations, a Chinese government spokesman advised concerned parties to "correctly and soberly understand China's role and not to make irresponsible remarks." The spokesman, Lin Jian, reiterated China's stance as a proponent of peaceful resolution in the Ukrainian crisis, denying any direct involvement.

Lin Jian also addressed the issue of Chinese citizens potentially fighting for Russia in a private capacity, stating that China "has always required its citizens to stay away from armed conflict areas and avoid being involved in armed conflicts in any form, especially to avoid participating in military operations of any party."

Details from Captured Soldiers Zelensky released a video on X purportedly showing the interrogation of the captured Chinese soldiers. In Mandarin, the soldiers recounted their backgrounds and circumstances of their capture. One soldier mentioned it was his "first time on duty and first time in combat," emphasizing his lack of prior military experience.

Zelensky's Call to Action Zelensky has framed the involvement of Chinese citizens as a deliberate escalation of the war, urging the US and the international community to respond. He stated, "Ukraine believes that such blatant involvement of Chinese citizens in hostilities on the territory of Ukraine during the war of aggression is a deliberate step towards the expansion of the war, and is yet another indication that Moscow simply needs to drag out the fighting."

International Concerns Washington has described the reports of Chinese fighters as "disturbing." Ukraine has previously questioned China's neutrality, alleging the supply of components used in Russian weaponry and calling for a consistent stance from Beijing.

Accusations against China include aiding Russia in the production of munitions, armored vehicles, and missiles. Scrutiny has also fallen on the export of dual-use technology, such as computer chips and drones, which have both commercial and military applications.
