Weekend Gaming: What's on the RPS Team's Playlists?

The UK's bracing weather has many of us seeking refuge indoors this weekend, and for the Rock, Paper, Shotgun team, that means diving headfirst into the world of video games. With varying levels of relaxation anticipated across the office, we've compiled a list of the titles keeping our writers occupied over the next few days.

Brendy is planning a culinary recovery session after battling the glitches of *S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2*. He intends to soothe his gaming nerves by whipping up some virtual grub in *Arctic Eggs

before unleashing some chaotic fun in *Wreckfest*'s multiplayer car-combat mode.

Ed, meanwhile, faces a rather different challenge: introducing his non-gaming friends to the intricate world of *Inscryption*. His success in this venture remains to be seen, but we wish him the best of luck.

Edwin's weekend is jam-packed, but he hopes to squeeze in a few more hours of *S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2*, hoping recent patches have addressed some of the game's more prominent anomalies. He also intends to catch up on *Mouthwashing*, a recent favourite among his colleagues.

Graham is also dedicating his weekend to completing *Mouthwashing*, the sci-fi narrative game which has been steadily winning over the RPS team. He's particularly taken with a character described only as "basically just an eyeball and teeth."

James, another *S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2

enthusiast, recounts a truly bizarre in-game encounter involving a mutant pig, an invisible psychic tornado, and a significant amount of trotter-related cleanup. This experience has apparently inspired him to explore a new "Weird Zone shit only" offensive playstyle.

Jeremy is eager to try the newly released demo for *Kathy Rain 2: Soothsayer*, a sequel to the 2016 adventure game. He recalls the original's positive reception at RPS and the improvements made in the 2021 Director's Cut, adding that the game's unsettling final act bears a striking resemblance to *Silent Hill*.

Kiera aims to finally complete *Dragon Age: The Veilguard*, despite her admitted habit of abandoning games in their final acts. Outside of the digital realm, she plans to paint a newly acquired Coven Throne miniature – a vampire-laden carriage pulled by skeletal steeds – inspired by the Dracula's Brides from the 2004 *Van Helsing

film.

Nic will be fully immersed in *Alan Wake 2*, following a short break to replay *Control*. His dedication to Remedy's titles is undeniable.

Ollie, after extensive playtime with *S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2*, is seeking a more predictable gaming experience. He's planning on playing an undisclosed title, contrasting sharply with his recent adventures in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, before turning his attention to the logistical nightmare of his *Factorio

base on Gleba.
