Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) has officially unveiled the GR Supra GT4 EVO2, a substantial update to its highly successful GT4 race car. Building upon extensive feedback from racing teams and drivers worldwide, the new model boasts improved performance, reliability, and handling, positioning it as a formidable contender for the upcoming 2025 racing season.
The original GR Supra GT4, introduced in 2020, quickly gained popularity amongst racing teams, with over 120 units sold and over 500 podium finishes across 11 countries. This success included championship wins in Asia, the United States, and Europe.
For the 2023 season, Toyota launched the GR Supra GT4 EVO, focusing on enhancements to braking, handling, and engine performance. TGR has now built upon this foundation, utilizing insights gained from real-world racing conditions to create the EVO2, aiming to set a new benchmark within the GT4 category.
Key updates in the EVO2 include:
Re-tuned ABS maps: Designed to optimise braking and cornering performance.
Fine-tuned rev matching: This improves downshifting and deceleration control, offering a more precise and controlled driving experience.
Enhanced cooling systems: These improvements, covering the engine, brakes, and drivetrain, boost performance and reliability.
These upgrades not only enhance the car's overall performance but also make it more accessible for amateur drivers, ensuring the GR Supra GT4 EVO2 is both competitive and user-friendly.
The GR Supra GT4 EVO2 will make its racing debut at the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge in January 2025, coinciding with the 24 Hours of Daytona. While Toyota has only released expected pricing for the European market, setting the retail price at â¬202,000 EUR, further details on global availability and pricing are anticipated to be shared shortly.
With its blend of performance enhancements and driver-focused refinements, the GR Supra GT4 EVO2 promises to be a force to be reckoned with in the competitive GT4 racing scene. Its debut in early 2025 will undoubtedly draw keen attention from both seasoned professionals and aspiring racers alike.
