Valve's latest Steam Client Beta update brings a fun new feature: a dedicated icon for Steam Deck users on your friends list! This small change, rolling out first in the Beta and Preview versions, will eventually be available for all users.
Steam Client Beta Updates
The Desktop Beta (and Steam Deck Preview) includes several improvements:
General:
Steam Deck Friends: The friends list now displays a Steam Deck icon beside any friend currently playing on the device, replacing the generic gamepad icon.
Improved Friends List: The VR icon has been replaced with a new graphic that aligns with the in-game or online friend state colour.
Tooltip Fix: A few issues causing unexpected word wrap in tooltips have been addressed.
Recordings & Screenshots:
Data Loading Error: The error that occurred when opening the Recordings & Screenshots dialog before data loaded has been resolved.
Search Filter Enhancement: The search filter behaviour in the game selector dropdown within the Recordings & Screenshots dialog has been improved.
Phone Sharing: The "Send to Phone" option has been added to share screenshots directly with your smartphone.
Steam Deck Beta Updates
The Steam Deck Beta also includes the following fixes:
Game Recording Beta:
Capture Issues: The issue where video capture failed after multiple game launches has been fixed.
Cropped Capture: Cropped video capture when an external display is connected or disconnected after startup has been addressed.
This update brings a fresh visual touch to the Steam client, allowing you to easily spot those who are enjoying their Steam Deck experience.
Note: These changes are currently available in the Beta versions of the Steam client and Steam Deck. They are expected to roll out to all users in a future stable update.
