Remedy's Big Plans: Control 2 Nears Production, Max Payne Remakes in Full Swing

Remedy Entertainment, the studio behind the acclaimed Alan Wake and Control series, has revealed significant updates on several of its upcoming projects. While a sequel to the supernatural action-adventure game Control is still in the "production readiness stage," the highly anticipated Max Payne 1 & 2 remakes have now entered full production.

The news came to light in Remedy's latest financial report, confirming that Control 2 has "passed the proof of concept stage and has progressed to the production readiness stage." While no concrete timeline was provided, the progress of the Max Payne remakes offers a potential indication. Max Payne 1 & 2 achieved this stage ten months ago, suggesting that Control 2 could enter full production around June 2025.

The Max Payne remakes, a bundled release of the classic action titles from 2001 and 2003, are now in full production. Though a release window has not been shared, Remedy is actively working on bringing these beloved games back to life with updated visuals and gameplay.

Remedy's upcoming multiplayer project, codenamed Condor, has also entered full production. This is the only multiplayer title currently in development for the studio, following the cancellation of another mysterious project known as Kestrel in May 2024. Remedy has indicated that "the development team has worked on multiple maps and different mission types," and has begun internal and limited external playtesting to gather feedback and validate features.

Despite entering full production, it's important to note that both the Max Payne remakes and Condor are still likely years away from release. The cancellation of Kestrel may accelerate development timelines, as Remedy has stated that developers from this project will be reallocated to its other three games.

While fans eagerly await news on release dates, the progress updates paint a promising picture for the future of Remedy's projects. With Control 2 nearing full production, the Max Payne remakes in full swing, and Condor steadily progressing, Remedy continues to build excitement for its upcoming titles, promising a wave of captivating experiences for gamers in the years to come.
