NickWatch: The Nickelodeon Smartwatch for Kids Makes its US Debut

Empowering Kids' Independence with Safety in Mind

The NickWatch, a smartwatch designed for kids by Watchinu and licensed by Nickelodeon, is finally making its US debut this Saturday, July 13th, on Walmart.com. The smartwatch, which was originally launched in the UK last year, is getting a special commercial during the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards to celebrate its arrival in the US.

The NickWatch is more than just a stylish accessory; it’s a tool designed to provide kids with a sense of freedom while giving parents peace of mind. This colorful watch, which boasts an award-winning design (receiving a Red Dot Design Award earlier this year), allows kids to communicate with parents and other caregivers through SMS and voice calls. It also features live GPS tracking via the NickWatch app, ensuring that parents can always know where their child is.

Beyond its safety features, the NickWatch offers a wealth of fun activities and games featuring popular Nickelodeon characters like SpongeBob SquarePants and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The company promises regular content updates, guaranteeing that the NickWatch stays exciting for kids and prevents them from getting bored with repetitive content.

“NickWatch is a true disruptor in the wearable tech category for kids, combining world-class Nickelodeon content with unrivaled parental controls and features,” said Udi Miron, CEO of Watchinu. “We are bringing to market a smartwatch that is not only fun and enriching, but will grow with the children who wear them for years to come.”

The NickWatch app offers a subscription-based service (priced between $8 and $13 per month) which unlocks a variety of safety features for parents. Parents can utilize the app to track their child’s location, manage communication with other users, and even set up geofences, receiving notifications if their child leaves a designated safe area. For additional safety and focus, parents can also mute the watch during school hours, ensuring that children are not distracted by notifications during class time.

The NickWatch retails for $119 and will be available on Walmart.com starting this Saturday, July 13th. Walmart stores are expected to carry the NickWatch starting in October.

The NickWatch is a perfect example of how technology can be used to empower children while keeping them safe. It's a fun, engaging, and safe way for kids to experience the benefits of a smartwatch while providing parents with the reassurance they need.
