MySims Returns to Nintendo Switch After 17 Years: Nostalgia Trip or New Beginning?

Fans of the whimsical *Sims

spin-off have been eagerly anticipating a Nintendo Switch release for years, and their wishes are finally coming true. *Kotaku* has learned that a remastered version of *MySims*, the 2007 Wii and DS title, is set to arrive on the platform later this year.

The news first surfaced via several seemingly credible store listings, which were compiled in a thread on the gaming forum ResetEra. These listings suggest a potential release date of 19 November. While *Kotaku

cannot independently confirm these details, sources familiar with EA's plans have confirmed the Switch port is indeed in the works. EA has not yet responded to requests for comment.

*MySims

captivated players with its charming world where they could create and customize their own Mii-like characters and redesign an entire town from the ground up. Players unlocked blueprints for building unique structures and utilized a resource called "essence" to craft imaginative creations. The game's appeal extends beyond its gameplay, as evidenced by the devoted *MySims* subreddit, where fans still share nostalgic stories about their favourite characters and memorable moments.

*MySims

spawned several sequel spin-offs, each with a distinct theme, from the medieval setting of *MySims: Kingdom* to the racing-focused *MySims: Racing*. These titles offered a more whimsical take on the *Sims* formula compared to the ever-expanding features of the popular *Sims 4*. The development of most *MySims* games was overseen by EA Redwood Shores, the studio renowned for the *Dead Space* series, which was later rebranded as Visceral before being shut down by EA in 2017.

The return of *MySims

begs the question: is this the extent of EA's ambitions for *The Sims* on Switch? Many fans remain hopeful for a *Sims 4* port or another iteration of the main series on Nintendo's hybrid console. Perhaps EA is holding out for the release of a Switch 2 before making such an announcement. However, the revival of *MySims* might be the closest *Sims* fans on Nintendo platforms will get for the time being.
