MPEG-H Audio: Next-Gen Sound Experience Lands in Brazilian Homes with Hisense TVs
Fraunhofer IIS, in collaboration with Hisense and Globo, has launched a range of Hisense televisions in Brazil that unlock the immersive audio capabilities of MPEG-H Audio. This partnership brings the latest in next-generation audio technology directly to Brazilian viewers.
Globo, the leading media company in Latin America, has chosen MPEG-H Audio for its regular broadcasts, partnering with Hisense to showcase the technologyâs personalization and interactive features during a major international sporting event. This collaboration marks a significant step towards enhancing the viewing experience for Brazilian audiences.
Brazilian consumers are now among the first in the world to experience the full potential of MPEG-H Audio in their homes. The technology offers a range of innovative features, including:
Enhanced Dialogue: Boosting the clarity of dialogue, ensuring viewers can easily understand every word.
Audio Description: Providing accessibility options for visually impaired viewers.
Immersive Sound: Creating a truly immersive sound experience that feels like being present at the event.
Hisense, a global leader in consumer electronics, has entered the Brazilian market to meet the growing demand for high-quality, personalized experiences. The companyâs TV models featuring MPEG-H Audio support enable broadcasters and streaming services to deliver innovative interactive sound experiences via streaming or ISDB-T/ ATSC 3.0 broadcast.
"We are proud of this successful collaboration with Hisense," said Mauricio Felix, Technology Director at Globo. "This partnership brings the enhanced broadcast experience of TV 2.5 to life and accelerates the development of the full TV 3.0 stack in consumer electronics devices, creating a powerful ecosystem."
The launch of Hisense TVs equipped with MPEG-H Audio support coincides with a major global sporting event, providing a perfect platform for the company to showcase its latest innovations to the Brazilian market.
"Incorporating MPEG-H Audio support in our TVs allows us to provide the most advanced experiences to our viewers," commented Thais Nogueira, Deputy Marketing Director of Hisense Brazil. "The upcoming launch of TV 3.0 commercial services opens up incredible new possibilities, and we are proud to be among the first ones to bring these advancements directly into Brazilian homes."
Hisense TVs with MPEG-H Audio offer a user-friendly interface allowing viewers to interact with the content. The TVs also feature HDMI passthrough capabilities, enabling connection to external soundbars and AV receivers that support MPEG-H Audio. This immersive and personalized sound experience can be enjoyed through both ISDB-T terrestrial broadcast and video streaming services.
"We are thrilled to be partnering with Hisense as they continue to embrace the most advanced and innovative media technologies in their devices," said Adrian Murtaza, Senior Manager Technology and Standards at Fraunhofer IIS, the primary developer of MPEG-H Audio. "Adopting MPEG-H Audio support, not only for streaming but also for TV 2.5 and TV 3.0 broadcast, makes Hisense a driving force in broadcast technology advancements in Brazil."
Major Brazilian broadcasters including Globo, Rede Amazonica, and TV Cultura, have adopted MPEG-H Audio technology for their current ISDB-T broadcast services (known as TV 2.5). This upgrade enhances the viewerâs sound experience and paves the way for a seamless transition to the next-generation TV 3.0 broadcast system, where MPEG-H Audio will be the mandatory audio format.
