Get ready for a new wave of fighters in Mortal Kombat 1, as NetherRealm Studios has unveiled "Khaos Reigns," the game's second Kombat Pack, at San Diego Comic-Con 2024. This pack features a diverse roster of six new combatants, including some surprising additions from the realms of film and fiction.
The Khaos Reigns Kombat Pack includes:
Ghostface (Scream): The iconic masked killer from the Scream franchise joins the fight, sporting a familiar look with only subtle changes. Longtime Scream voice actor Roger L. Jackson reprises his role, bringing the chilling voice of Ghostface to Mortal Kombat 1.
T-1000 (Terminator 2: Judgment Day): Robert Patrick returns to the role of the T-1000, lending his likeness and voice to the character in Mortal Kombat 1. This is the second Terminator to grace the franchise, following Arnold Schwarzenegger's appearance in Mortal Kombat 11.
Conan the Barbarian: The iconic swordsman returns for another round, featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger's likeness, although he won't be providing voice work.
Noob Saibot: The enigmatic ninja, voiced by Kaiji Tang, returns with a fresh look and a backstory tied to the reimagined Mortal Kombat 1 universe.
Sektor: Unlike previous entries, Sektor is now female in Mortal Kombat 1 and is voiced by Erika Ishii. The character is no longer a robot but a human warrior, a trusted lieutenant to Sub-Zero.
Cyrax: The Lin Kuei assassin, voiced by Enuka Okuma, also takes on a new identity in Mortal Kombat 1. Like Sektor, Cyrax is a human and becomes a martial arts prodigy, driven by her own desires and independence.
The Khaos Reigns DLC expands the existing story campaign with a cinematic narrative. A new threat emerges from an alternate timeline, led by the chaotic Titan Havik, who seeks to plunge the realms into anarchy. Liu Kang must rally his allies, including some unlikely allies, to defeat Havik and prevent the New Era from collapsing.
The Khaos Reigns Kombat Pack is set to launch digitally on September 24 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store). While the release dates for each individual fighter within the pack are yet to be confirmed, players are eager to see how NetherRealm incorporates each character's unique abilities and fatalities into the Mortal Kombat 1 universe.
Fans can expect a variety of gory and brutal fatalities from the new additions, adding to the series' already iconic violent gameplay. It's worth noting that the characters featured in Khaos Reigns had already been leaked through datamines, but the official announcement brings new insights into their portrayal and gameplay.
This DLC continues the trend of crossover characters in Mortal Kombat 1, following the success of Kombat Pack 1 which included Homelander from The Boys and Omni-Man from Invincible. The future holds even more surprises for Mortal Kombat 1, as the studio is sure to bring more exciting characters and storylines to the franchise.
