Magnemite Mania: Spotlight Hour Brings Perfect IVs & Shiny Chances
This week's Pokémon Go Spotlight Hour features the Magnet Pokémon, Magnemite, offering players a prime opportunity to snag a perfect IV specimen or a coveted shiny. The event is particularly exciting as it mirrors last month's final Spotlight Hour, focusing on a Pokémon that requires three individuals to evolve into a single entity. With the previous event featuring the three-in-one evolution of 'Meltan', it's certainly a trend worth keeping an eye on for next month.
While most trainers likely already have an abundance of Magnemite, this Spotlight Hour presents an excellent opportunity to capitalise on the double evolution XP bonus. A Lucky Egg and a plethora of Magnemite can quickly boost a trainer's XP levels, making it a great chance for levelling up.

Perfect IV Magnemite: Your Master League Contender
For those seeking the elusive 15/15/15 perfect IV Magnemite, this Spotlight Hour presents the perfect opportunity. This 'perfect' version excels in 4
Pokédex entries, raids, and particularly, the Master League.
Remember, while you can't determine a Pokémon's IV until it's caught, a quick glance at its CP can indicate a perfect specimen. Here's what to look for:
Level 30 (Wild CP Maximum): 1167 CP
Level 35 (Weather-Boosted Wild CP Maximum): 1265 CP
It's important to note that these CP values align with your Trainer Level up to Level 30. Players above this level will encounter these specific values, but those below will see varying figures.

Is Magnezone Worth Your Time in PvP?
Magnezone, the final evolution of Magnemite, isn't a top-tier Pokémon in PvP, but it can hold its own with the right strategy and a good build. Shadow Magnezone is generally considered slightly superior to its regular counterpart.
The ideal moveset for Magnezone is Volt Switch (Fast), Wild Charge (Charged), and Mirror Shot (Charged). This combination delivers both Fast Move pressure and shield control. However, Magnezone can be a tricky Pokémon to master, possessing slow animations and self-debuffs. Players need to employ a strategic approach, baiting shields with Mirror Shot and carefully timing Wild Charge to maximise its offensive potential.
Magnezone performs best in the Great League, with the regular version proving advantageous against Skarmory, Azumarill, Vigoroth, Lanturn, and Lickitung. However, it struggles against Shadow Whiscash, Annihilape, Shadow Gligar, Talonflame, and Charjabug.
In the Ultra League, Shadow Magnezone shines against Jellicent, Golisopod, Charizard, Tapu Fini, and Poliwrath. However, it falls short against Virizion, Steelix, Giratina Altered, Talonflame, and Cresselia.
Finally, Shadow Magnezone holds its own in the Master League, with a good track record against Lugia, Togekiss, Dragonite, Kyogre, and Mewtwo. However, it faces difficulties against Excadrill, Therian Landorus, Giratina Origin, Ho-Oh, and Dialga.

A Shiny Magnemite? Yes, But Rare!
The shiny form of Magnemite, with its striking golden hue, was introduced in November 2018 during the Let's Go event. While you can evolve a shiny Magnemite into a shiny Magnezone, it requires a significant investment of 125 Magnemite Candy and a Magnetic Lure Module.
While you can find shiny Magnemite in the wild, the chances are slim. The Spotlight Hour doesn't offer boosted shiny rates, so it's a pure numbers game. The key is to tap every Magnemite you encounter and hope for a lucky catch.
