Horizon MMO on the Horizon? Guerrilla Games Hiring for 2025 Release

While fans are still enjoying the freshly released Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, whispers of a new Horizon title are already circulating. A recent job listing has sparked speculation that a Horizon-themed multiplayer game could be on its way as early as next year.

Guerrilla Games, the studio behind the Horizon series, has posted an opening for a Release QA Intern. The position requires someone with both academic knowledge and practical experience to ensure a game's readiness for launch. Importantly, the internship is only open to those currently enrolled in Dutch schools within a relevant field and is set to take place during the first half of 2025. This timeline suggests a potential release window for a new Horizon game in the latter half of next year.

While the internship could be related to any number of projects, it has fuelled rumours about the long-awaited Horizon MMO. Reports from South Korea have indicated that Sony and NCSoft are collaborating on a game codenamed "Project H". This project, widely believed to be an MMO, would mark a significant expansion of the Horizon universe.

However, there's also the possibility that Guerrilla is working on its own internal Horizon multiplayer experience. Bloomberg's Jason Schreier has stated that "Horizon Online" is the studio's next project, suggesting a separate venture from the rumoured NCSoft collaboration.

Guerrilla Games studio director Jan-Bart van Beek has previously confirmed that the studio is developing a multiplayer game, adding further credence to these rumours.

It remains unclear whether Guerrilla and NCSoft are working on a single Horizon multiplayer game or if both studios are developing separate projects. Sony has declared its commitment to expanding into live-service games, but a multi-faceted approach to the Horizon franchise could risk fragmenting the player base. It is possible that NCSoft is developing a mobile version of the game or that Guerrilla is collaborating on a full-fledged MMO.

While fans eagerly await any concrete details, the recent job listing provides a tantalising glimpse into the future of the Horizon franchise. With a potential release in 2025, the next chapter in Aloy's story could offer a new and exciting way for players to experience the world of Horizon.
