Google Pixel Buds Pro 2: First Glimpse Ahead of Launch
The world of premium true wireless earbuds is getting even more exciting, with the upcoming Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 set to make a splash. Following hot on the heels of the Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro's successful stem design, Google's latest noise-cancelling earbuds promise to shake things up within the Pixel ecosystem.
With the Made by Google event scheduled for 13th August, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 are expected to take centre stage alongside the highly anticipated Pixel 9 series smartphones. Thanks to a flurry of leaks and rumours, we've already caught a glimpse of the design and features we can expect.
Contrary to the stem-like design adopted by the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro (mirroring Apple's AirPods), the Google Buds Pro 2 will continue the stemless aesthetic of their predecessors. A Reddit user, known as 'nothighandmighty', has shared photos of a display model, offering the first real-world look at the earbuds.
Images reveal a refined design with subtle improvements. The Buds Pro 2 will boast a smaller profile than their predecessors, promising a more comfortable fit, particularly for those with smaller ears. The ear wings, designed for a secure grip, have also been slightly enlarged, with colour matching available to complement the chosen earbud colour. Rumours suggest that the vibrant colour palette will include Raspberry, Mojito, Porcelain and Haze options.
The charging case, too, is expected to be more compact, making it easier to carry around in a pocket. Interestingly, the case features a small speaker mesh at the bottom, which is likely designed to emit sound for the Find My Device feature, ensuring lost earbuds can be located with ease.
While the Pixel Buds Pro 2 may appear to be a subtle upgrade on the previous generation, the inclusion of incremental improvements positions them to compete head-to-head with established players in the premium earbuds market, such as the Sony WF-1000XM5, Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II and Jabra Elite 10 Gen 2.
