Civilization 7 Gameplay Revealed: 20+ Minutes of Empire Building at Gamescom
The long-awaited sequel to Civilization 6 is finally getting its gameplay debut at this month's Gamescom Opening Night Live. Firaxis has confirmed that the event will feature over 20 minutes of gameplay, providing a "deep dive" into the much-anticipated title.
The news was shared in a tweet by Firaxis, which accompanied a blog post further detailing the Gamescom showcase. "Civilization is a game that is as wide as it is deep, covering the span of human history as you build your empire piece by piece in the attempt to stand the test of time," the post states. "We know many of you love getting into the details, and we do too - that's why we're going all-out for the gameplay reveal coming later this month."
Beyond the gameplay unveiling, attendees can expect "exclusive insights" from the development team, providing a glimpse into their vision for the game and highlighting its innovative new features.
Following Gamescom, Firaxis will be heading to PAX West in Seattle, where a developer panel will offer "new insights and behind-the-scenes anecdotes" from the creation of Civilization 7.
The original announcement for Civilization 7 came from series creator Sid Meier himself during June's Summer Game Fest. While details were scarce, it was revealed that the game is set to launch on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC sometime in 2025.
