Bandai Namco Profits Soar 56% in Q1, Driven by Elden Ring Success

Bandai Namco has announced a significant surge in its first-quarter financial results for fiscal year 25, with both net sales and profits experiencing a substantial increase.

For the period ending June 30th, 2024, the company reported a 24.8% year-on-year rise in net sales, reaching ¥280 billion (£1.8 billion). This growth was further amplified by a remarkable 56.3% increase in profits, hitting ¥34 billion (£220 million).

A key driver behind this impressive performance was the robust growth in Bandai Namco's digital entertainment division. Sales in this segment surged by 55.8% to ¥106 billion (£690 million), largely attributed to the success of FromSoftware's highly anticipated expansion for *Elden Ring*, "Shadow of the Erdtree." Released in June, the expansion achieved remarkable sales figures, shifting five million units within its first three days of launch. This substantial performance validated Bandai Namco's earlier statement to *GamesIndustry.biz*, where they predicted the DLC would significantly impact *Elden Ring's

overall sales.

Beyond the digital realm, Bandai Namco's amusement segment also demonstrated positive growth, registering a 17% increase to ¥33 million (£21,000) in sales during the quarter.

Despite the current positive trajectory, Bandai Namco's full-year forecast remains unchanged from the announcement made on May 20th. However, the company has revised its estimates for the six months ending September 30th, 2024. Initially projected at ¥515 billion (£330 million) in net sales and ¥40 billion (£260 million) in profits, the company now anticipates reaching ¥555 billion (£360 million) in net sales and ¥60 billion (£390 million) in profits. This upward revision reflects the company's confidence in maintaining its positive momentum throughout the remainder of the fiscal year.
