Apple Sports Gears Up for Football Season with Enhanced Features
Apple Sports, the free iPhone app for sports enthusiasts, is kicking off the new football season with a range of exciting updates designed to keep fans engaged.
The app now provides enhanced play-by-play coverage for both NFL and college football games, offering quick access to scoring drives alongside visual representations of every play. A new dynamic drive tracker allows users to visualise the ball's location on the field at any given moment.
With iOS 18 and watchOS 11, Apple Sports will introduce Live Activities for the first time. This feature, available across all leagues and teams within the app, provides live scores and play-by-play updates at a glance on iPhone and Apple Watch Lock Screens.
Later this year, Apple Sports will roll out a new drop-down navigation system for the main scorecard views, simplifying the switching process between My Leagues, My Teams, and user-selected favourite leagues. An improved search function also makes it easier to explore matches from leagues that users may not currently follow.

Additional leagues, including the Champions League and Europa League, will be added to the app in September.
Apple Sports is designed with speed and simplicity in mind, providing users with a personalized experience that prioritises their favourite teams and leagues. The app's intuitive interface allows users to customize their scoreboards, explore play-by-play information and lineup details, and easily navigate between scores, upcoming games, and live game broadcasts within the Apple TV app. Apple Sports seamlessly syncs with user selections within the My Sports experience across Apple TV app and Apple News.
Apple Sports is available for download on the App Store in the US, the UK, and Canada.
Please note:
Live betting odds can be disabled in app settings.
Live Activities require iOS 18 and watchOS 11 or later. Live Activities will no longer be available in the Apple TV app with iOS 18.
A subscription is required for access to some services.
