West Ham United have agreed a £27 million fee with Borussia Dortmund to sign German forward Niclas Fullkrug. The 31-year-old is set to bolster David Moyes' attacking options ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.
Fullkrug enjoyed a successful debut season with Dortmund, scoring 15 goals in 46 appearances across all competitions. He played a key role in their run to the Champions League final, finishing as runners-up to Manchester City. The striker joined the Bundesliga side last summer from Werder Bremen in a £12.6 million deal.
Fullkrug also impressed on the international stage, scoring twice for Germany in their run to the quarter-finals of Euro 2024, despite not starting a single match. His performances at the tournament further cemented his reputation as a clinical finisher.
West Ham's pursuit of a new striker has been well-documented throughout the transfer window. They have also held discussions with Aston Villa over a potential move for Colombian forward Jhon Duran.
The Hammers have been busy strengthening their squad under new manager Julen Lopetegui. They have already secured the signings of Wolves captain Max Kilman for £40 million, goalkeeper Wes Foderingham from Sheffield United, and Brazilian winger Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras for £25.5 million.
The London club are also reportedly interested in signing full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United and Leeds United's Dutch forward Crysencio Summerville.
With the arrival of Fullkrug, West Ham are adding a proven goalscorer to their ranks, further enhancing their attacking prowess. The German striker's experience and goal-scoring ability will be a valuable asset for the Hammers as they look to challenge for a top-half finish in the Premier League.
