Von Eckermann Ready to Conquer Paris: "We're in shape, bring it on!"

Henrik von Eckermann, the reigning Olympic team gold medallist, is preparing for the upcoming showjumping competition in Paris, which kicks off tomorrow. While the Swedish star still dreams of achieving further success, he acknowledges that his priorities have shifted since becoming a father.

"In Tokyo, it was an emotional run in the individual championships," von Eckermann reflects. "Afterwards, you can say fourth place isn't bad, but I felt like the biggest loser."

Despite the disappointment, von Eckermann remains incredibly proud of his loyal steed, King Edward. "My horse is just amazing. We have complete trust in each other, 100%. Every time we enter the arena, I aim to give my best. I can't accept making mistakes on my behalf, because King Edward is never to blame!"

The seasoned equestrian acknowledges the natural progression of horses as they age. "Just like with us humans, horses get older and need to be more clever. They lose some power. Luckily, King Edward became more intelligent as he aged. That shows how important mental well-being is for horses. That's why I dedicate 150% of my effort to ensuring their mental health."

While von Eckermann's ambitions remain high, he understands the evolving balance in his life. "I'm a father now. I still dream and think about big things, but my priorities have shifted. When I don't win gold, the world won't end. Of course, I'll feel bad!"

Despite the shifting focus, von Eckermann remains confident and determined. "We are in shape, bring it on!" he concludes with a smile. His formidable combination with King Edward and his unwavering dedication to both his horse's well-being and his newfound family life promises an exciting chapter in his career.
