Spiders Face Tough Test at Ibrox: Queen's Park Travel to Rangers
Queen's Park face a stern test in their first away match of the new season as they travel to Ibrox to face Rangers on Monday 21st August. The match, originally scheduled for the weekend, was postponed due to Dundee United's fixture rescheduling.
Manager Craig Joyce acknowledged the challenge ahead, but expressed confidence in his team's ability to build on their encouraging home opener: "We've had to wait a bit longer to get back into action after last weekend, but we're ready to go. We know that tomorrow's game will be another tough test, but that's the beauty of playing at the top level â you get to face the best teams in the league."
Joyce is aware of the formidable nature of the opening fixtures, which have pitted his side against both Hearts and Rangers. "We know that playing these games will give us an indication of where we stand, but these matches won't define our season. They will provide invaluable experience for our young squad moving forward," he stated.
"Despite the result in our first game, there were plenty of positives to take away. I've challenged the girls to build on those positives and take confidence from what we did well."
Rangers, meanwhile, enter the match with a 100% winning record, having dispatched Aberdeen and Partick Thistle with emphatic 11-0 and 4-0 victories respectively. Having missed out on the league title by a mere goal difference last season, Rangers will be eager to avoid a similar scenario this time around, and Queen's Park are likely to face a formidable attacking force.
