"I am delighted to announce that I will be joining Williams Racing from 2025 onwards," Sainz said. "It is no secret that this year's driver market has been particularly challenging due to a number of factors, which has led to this announcement taking a little longer than expected."
Sainz explained his reasoning for choosing Williams, highlighting his confidence in the team's future. "However, I am absolutely certain that Williams is the right place for me to continue my Formula 1 journey," he stated. "I am incredibly proud to be joining such a historic and successful team, one that has been home to many of my childhood heroes who have left their mark on the sport."
He acknowledged the ambitious goal of returning Williams to the front of the grid and expressed his eagerness to be part of that journey. "The ultimate aim of bringing Williams back to where it belongs, at the forefront of the grid, is a challenge I embrace with both excitement and positivity," he said. "I am convinced that this team has all the necessary elements to create history once again, and I will dedicate my utmost effort starting from January 1st to propel Williams forward alongside every member of the team."
Sainz expressed his gratitude to Williams Racing team principal James Vowles and the board for their confidence in him. "I would like to thank James Vowles and the entire Board of Williams for their trust and unwavering belief in me. Their strong leadership and commitment have played a significant role in my decision," he said.
He concluded by emphasizing the importance of the team's culture and personnel in his decision. "I genuinely believe that the essence of any successful team lies within its people and their shared culture," he stated. "Williams is synonymous with heritage and pure racing, and the foundation for the project we have ahead is incredibly strong. I am truly looking forward to being a part of it starting next year."
