Olympics Day Two: Gold Medal Hopes & British Action

Thirteen gold medals are up for grabs on the second day of the Olympic Games. Here's a look at the medal contenders and the British athletes in action on Sunday.

Team GB Medal Hopes

Adam Peaty aims for a historic third consecutive Olympic title in the men's 100m breaststroke final at 8:44pm. He's one of three British swimmers with gold medal aspirations on day two.

Former world champion Evie Richards leads the Team GB charge in the women's cross-country mountain bike event. Meanwhile, Chelsie Giles is a strong contender for a medal in the women's judo 52kg class.

The Team GB women's archery team features former world No 1s Penny Healey and Bryony Pitman, alongside teenager Megan Havers. They begin their competition at 8:30am, with the gold medal match scheduled for 4:11pm.

Two-time Olympic rowing champion Helen Glover begins her fourth Games in the women's four alongside Rebecca Shorten, Esme Booth, and Sam Redgrave. Their heats start at 11:30am.

Welsh welterweight Rosie Eccles will fight in the last-32 of the women's boxing at 11:52am. Heavyweight Pat Brown makes his Olympic debut in the evening, with both boxers representing Team GB in the sport alongside four other athletes.

Andy Murray and Dan Evans will compete in men's doubles tennis, facing Taro Daniel and Kei Nishikori in the last scheduled match of the day. Evans, Jack Draper, Cameron Norrie, and Katie Boulter will also kick off their singles campaigns.

Kimberley Woods competes in the canoe slalom K1 event, while teenager Anna Hursey, the first Welsh table tennis player to participate in the Olympics, faces Manika Batra in her opening match.

Team GB's women's rugby sevens side will play group matches against Ireland (2:30pm) and Australia (6:30pm). The women's hockey team faces Spain at 12:15pm, while the men's team takes on South Africa in their pool at 7:15pm.
