Following the impressive performances of the Great British BMX team at the Paris Olympics, Nuneaton BMX Club is offering free introductory sessions to anyone inspired to try the exhilarating sport. Kieran Reilly's silver medal, alongside Bethany Shriever's bid to defend her gold from Tokyo 2020, have highlighted the thrilling nature of BMX, and the Nuneaton club could be the launchpad for the next generation of stars.
Located at the Jubilee Sports Centre off Greenmoor Road, the club boasts a dedicated track with brand-new lighting, funded by a £25,000 grant from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The club offers a fantastic opportunity for youngsters to experience the world of BMX under the guidance of British Cycling-affiliated coaches.
"Anyone who has witnessed the amazing BMX action at the Olympics can now come and try it for themselves, free of charge," said a club spokesperson. "Our entirely volunteer-run club has been providing coaching and helping kids and adults ride since 2007. We have helmets and bikes available to borrow in all sizes, and the first session is completely free."
The club competes nationally and hosts events at its track. It actively encourages participation, welcoming both beginners and those with experience. For anyone interested in giving BMX a go, or seeking further information, Nuneaton BMX Club can be contacted via their Facebook page.
The club's initiative provides a fantastic opportunity for local residents to engage in a thrilling and exciting sport, potentially discovering a new passion and a pathway to success. With the Olympics serving as a beacon of inspiration, the Nuneaton BMX Club is poised to nurture the next generation of British BMX talent.
