Newcastle United has unveiled its new away kit for the upcoming 2024-25 season, harking back to a beloved era in the club's history. The design features a classic navy and burgundy horizontal stripe pattern, reminiscent of the iconic 1995-96 kit, though with a modern twist in the form of a monochromatic club crest.
Manager Eddie Howe, who appears alongside fans, current and former players in the kit's launch video, expressed his enthusiasm for the design. "adidas have done an amazing job with our kits, and I'm sure the new away kit will be hugely popular with players and supporters everywhere," he said. "This is an iconic club built on history and the 1995-96 team was one of our most entertaining ever. I'm sure our supporters will appreciate the nod to that era and will look forward to seeing our teams wearing it on the road."
The kit is designed for performance, incorporating adidas's latest HEAT.RDY technology for optimal comfort and confidence during matches. The lightweight jerseys feature moisture-wicking AEROREADY technology for the fan version, keeping wearers dry and comfortable.
This latest kit launch marks the third collaboration between Newcastle United and adidas since the two parties rekindled their partnership earlier this year. The sportswear giant returns as the club's official kit provider after previously outfitting the Magpies from 1995 to 2010.
"Our renewed partnership with Newcastle United has allowed us to revisit some of the most iconic moments in the club's history," said Inigo Turner, design director at adidas. "The 1995-96 season holds a special place in the hearts of the fans, and we are proud to bring back the spirit of that era with this new away kit. We look forward to seeing the team create new memories in this classic yet contemporary design."
The new kit will make its debut on the pitch during Newcastle's first away match of the 2024-25 season. Fans can purchase the kit starting today from the official Newcastle United club store and online at shop.newcastleunited.com.
