Nagpur's Gunjan Nikhil Mantri to Represent India at FIBA 3x3 U-18 World Cup
Nagpur: Gunjan Nikhil Mantri, a talented basketball player from the city, has been selected to represent India in the FIBA 3x3 Under-18 World Cup. The tournament will take place in Debrecen, Hungary, from 26th to 30th August.
Gunjan, a member of Shivaji Nagar Gymkhana, trains under Shiv Chatrapati Awardee Shatrughna Gokhale and NIS coach Vinay Chikate. This makes her the fourth basketball player from Nagpur to represent India at FIBA events.
Her selection comes after a series of impressive performances at both national and state levels. Her journey to the international stage began at the 74th Junior National Basketball Championship in Indore, where she helped her team secure a third-place finish. Her outstanding performance during the competition led to her selection for the national camp.
Earlier this year, Gunjan represented Maharashtra in the Khelo India Youth Games held in Coimbatore, where the Maharashtra team finished third. She further displayed her skills by winning the gold medal at the U-19 School Nationals in Mumbai.
Previously, Gunjan led the Nagpur team to victory at the Youth State Championship in Dhule, earning the prestigious Best Player of the Tournament award. Her consistent performance extended to the Youth Nationals, where she played a crucial role in helping Maharashtra clinch the National Championship.
Gunjan's selection for the FIBA 3x3 Under-18 World Cup highlights her exceptional talent and dedication to the sport.
