Andy Murray and Dan Evans will battle for a shot at an Olympic medal in their men's doubles quarter-final, marking the final tournament of Murray's illustrious career.
The duo pulled off another stunning comeback on Tuesday evening, saving two match points to defeat the Belgian pair of Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen 6-3, 6-7 (8) (11/9). This victory followed an equally dramatic previous round, where Murray and Evans saved five match points in their win against Kei Nishikori and Taro Daniel, extending the 37-year-old's career. While their performance in the second round was considerably better, the match was a thrilling rollercoaster.
A win in the quarter-finals would secure Murray a chance to win a medal in his final tournament before retirement, guaranteeing either gold or silver in the semi-finals. Even defeat would still offer a chance to win bronze in the play-off.
However, the Americans Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul stand in their way. The American duo overcame the Dutch team of Robin Haase and Jean-Julien Rojeo on Wednesday, giving Murray and Evans an extra day to prepare for their quarter-final clash.
When will the match take place?
Murray and Evans will face Fritz and Paul on Thursday, 1 August at Roland Garros, once again playing the final match of the day on Court Suzanne-Lenglen.
Play begins at 11am BST with one women's doubles and two men's singles matches scheduled before the doubles quarter-final. Murray and Evans are expected to take to the court around 6pm BST, although the time could vary depending on the length of the preceding matches.
Lorenzo Musetti's straight-sets victory over reigning men's singles champion Alexander Zverev at 3:45pm BST, followed by the ongoing men's singles tie between Casper Ruud and Felix Auger-Aliassime, provides a glimpse into the potential schedule. Auger-Aliassime, the 13th seed, won the first set against Ruud, a two-time French Open finalist on clay, around 5pm BST.

Murray's Outlook:
"We were very lucky in the first match and today we werenât. The margins are so fine, we need to perform at a really high level in a couple of daysâ time to go through.
"You build confidence by winning matches like that and I think your opponents see that, that youâre coming back when youâre behind and that builds belief.
"But you canât have that mentality of âOh this is just going to happen now.â We need to be switched on for the next one and letâs see what happens in a couple of days.â
