Jermaine Jenas Sacked by BBC Following Workplace Conduct Complaints
Former England footballer and BBC presenter Jermaine Jenas has been dismissed by the corporation after complaints concerning his workplace behaviour. The 41-year-old has been removed from both The One Show and Match of the Day, with the BBC confirming he is no longer part of their presenting team.
It is understood that concerns were raised with the BBC several weeks ago, prompting the broadcaster to take immediate action. Jenas last appeared on screen earlier this summer.
The former midfielder enjoyed a successful playing career, making his professional debut at the age of 17 for his boyhood club Nottingham Forest. He went on to play for Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United, racking up over 340 appearances in total. Jenas also represented England on 21 occasions. He retired from football in 2016, having last played in 2014.
Following his retirement, Jenas transitioned into a media career, working as a pundit on Match of the Day and BT Sport while recovering from a knee injury. He joined The One Show in 2020, becoming a regular on the popular daytime programme.
Beyond his media work, Jenas is actively involved in charitable endeavours. He co-founded the Aquinas Foundation with a friend, aimed at inspiring and raising aspirations among young people in schools across Nottingham. In December 2023, it was announced that he would receive an honorary degree from Nottingham Trent University.
The BBC has not provided further details regarding the nature of the complaints or the circumstances leading to Jenas' dismissal.
