Former Panther Taylan May Granted Bail After ADVO Breach Arrest

Former Penrith Panthers winger Taylan May was granted bail on Sunday after appearing in court on charges of breaching an Apprehended Domestic Violence Order (ADVO).

New South Wales Police confirmed in a statement to *foxsports.com.au

that on Saturday afternoon, around 2.50pm, officers from Nepean Police Area Command were called to Emerton Village following reports of a man allegedly breaching an ADVO.

“The 23-year-old man was arrested and taken to Penrith Police Station where he was charged with contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic),” the statement read.

May was initially denied bail but appeared before Parramatta Local Court on Sunday morning, where *The Daily Telegraph

reported that his ADVO had been amended to permit contact with his wife.

The newspaper also reported that May had been volunteering to assist a team of disabled rugby league players, with a reference from a "senior figure" at the Minchinbury Jets rugby league club presented in court.

The 23-year-old was initially arrested in May following an alleged domestic violence incident involving his wife. He is currently subject to the National Rugby League's (NRL) no-fault stand-down policy until at least March 2025, when his case will be reviewed.

May was previously charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and two counts of stalking, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The former Panther made his NRL debut for Penrith in 2021 before departing the club in July after both parties reached a confidential settlement.

While the details surrounding the alleged breach of the ADVO remain unclear, the incident underscores the seriousness of domestic violence issues within the sporting community. The NRL's no-fault stand-down policy highlights the league's commitment to addressing these concerns, regardless of the outcome of the legal proceedings.

May's legal situation remains complex, with the next court hearing scheduled for March 2025. The outcome of this case will have significant implications for his future in rugby league.
