Blues Bolster Defence: Davies Joins on Loan from Rangers

Birmingham City have further strengthened their squad with the signing of centre-back Ben Davies on a season-long loan from Rangers. This move marks the club's 13th summer transfer window addition, bolstering their defensive options ahead of their League One campaign.

Davies, 29, arrives at St Andrew's having enjoyed two seasons in Scotland with Rangers. He joined the Glasgow giants in July 2022 for a fee of £4 million from Liverpool, signing a four-year contract. Prior to his move north of the border, Davies spent several years in the English Championship, most notably with Preston North End.

His time at Liverpool was brief, having joined on a deadline-day loan in February 2021, but he was unable to break into the first team. Instead, he secured a move to Sheffield United for the 2021-22 season, playing a key role in the Blades' successful run to the Championship play-offs.

Davies joins a Birmingham City side that has made a promising start under new manager John Eustace. The Blues have collected seven points from their opening three League One fixtures, indicating their ambition to return to the Championship at the first time of asking.

The arrival of Davies is a timely boost for the Birmingham defence, providing experience and solidity at the heart of the backline. He is expected to feature prominently in the Blues' upcoming fixtures, aiming to contribute to their push for promotion.

Meanwhile, young defender Tommy Fogarty has departed Birmingham City to join Scottish League One side Dunfermline Athletic. The move sees the promising defender head north of the border in search of regular first-team football.
