Birmingham Edge Out Orient in Thrilling Brisbane Road Clash
League One promotion hopefuls Birmingham City snatched a 2-1 victory over Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road, emerging victorious from a pulsating encounter marked by costly errors in the opening stages.
The game burst into life within the first seven minutes when Orient goalkeeper Zach Hemming's attempted pass to a teammate was intercepted by Keshi Anderson, who calmly slotted the ball into an empty net to give the visitors an early lead.
However, Orient responded in the 14th minute when Birmingham keeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell inexplicably gifted possession to Ethan Galbraith, who made no mistake in finding the back of the net with a low drive into the corner.
The see-saw nature of the encounter continued as Birmingham regained the lead in the 20th minute. Alfie May pounced on a loose ball, which had deflected off an Orient defender, and finished from close range to put the Blues back in front.
The second half witnessed an equally intense battle, with both sides creating chances. Dan Agyei came closest for the hosts, while Paik Seung-Ho's curling effort from 20 yards narrowly missed the target for Birmingham.
Despite Orient's valiant efforts, they were unable to find an equaliser, leaving Birmingham to claim a hard-fought victory. The result sees Birmingham maintain their push for promotion, while Orient will be disappointed to have let slip an early lead.
