Andersen Out for Plymouth Clash, But QPR Hope for Swift Return

QPR midfielder Lucas Andersen will miss Saturday's match against Plymouth Argyle after suffering a thigh injury, but is expected to return to action shortly, according to manager Marti Cifuentes.

Andersen picked up the injury during Saturday's 2-2 draw at Sheffield United, while taking a corner kick. The Danish playmaker has been participating in light training this week, indicating a swift recovery is on the cards.

"He sustained a minor muscular strain in his adductor while taking the corner," Cifuentes explained. "He's currently in the recovery process."

"Thankfully, it's not a serious injury, so we're hopeful he'll be back soon," he added.

Cifuentes initially feared the worst when he witnessed Andersen's reaction to the injury. "My initial impression wasn't good, seeing him standing there in pain," the manager revealed. "But after the scans, it turned out to be a small tear in his adductor. The positive is that it's not severe, and he's already been back on the training pitch for the past couple of days, feeling increasingly better."

While Cifuentes couldn't provide an exact return date, he was optimistic about Andersen's progress.

In addition to Andersen, QPR will also be without Ilias Chair and Morgan Fox. Chair, who is dealing with a back issue, is expected to be sidelined for several more weeks.

Despite these absences, QPR will be looking to build on their positive start to the season, which saw them earn a hard-fought draw against Sheffield United. With Andersen's imminent return, the Hoops will be hoping to maintain their momentum in the coming weeks.
