Altrincham's Bank Holiday Trip: A Tough Test Awaits at Forest Green Rovers

Altrincham FC are back in action on Bank Holiday Monday, travelling to Gloucestershire to face Forest Green Rovers at The New Lawn Stadium (kick-off 3 pm). The Robins are looking to bounce back from a narrow defeat to table-toppers Eastleigh in their previous fixture, where a late penalty from Chris Maguire secured a 1-0 win for the Spitfires.

Despite creating numerous scoring opportunities in the second half, Altrincham were unable to find the back of the net against Joe McDonnell in the Eastleigh goal. Despite the loss, the Robins have already collected six points this season.

Their opponents, Forest Green, sit just one point and one place below Altrincham in 12th position. Following a draw against Aldershot on the opening day, they have secured victories against Boston and Barnet, and most recently drew with Rochdale.

Monday's clash will be the first home game of the season for Steve Cotterill and his team, meaning Alty can expect a sizeable crowd and a tough battle.

Manager Phil Parkinson on the Upcoming Match:

"We'll eat, sleep, recover, and do our due diligence – recovery is crucial, and that's why being a full-time team is so important. We're competing against teams with plenty of League experience and have been full-time teams for longer than us. The lads are doing fantastically well; Saturday's result was disappointing, but we'll head into the Forest Green game full of confidence."

Last Time These Sides Met:

In November 2015, the Robins were defeated by Forest Green in a dramatic encounter. A brace from Jon Parkin gave Forest Green an early 2-0 lead before Dale Bennett was sent off for the Green Devils and Josh O'Keefe and Gianluca Havern were dismissed for Alty.
