Alloa Face Thistle Test in SPFL Trust Trophy
Alloa Athletic will travel to Glasgow to face Partick Thistle in the third round of the SPFL Trust Trophy, as confirmed by the draw held on Monday.
The Wasps, who entered the competition at this stage, will make the short journey to Firhill on the weekend of 7-8 September, with the exact fixture details yet to be announced.
This marks the first competitive meeting between the two sides since January 2020, when they drew 1-1 in the Scottish Championship. Alloa's Adam Brown netted the equaliser in that encounter. The teams also played a friendly match in June 2022.
Partick Thistle have endured a challenging start to the Championship season, failing to win in their first two games. They drew 0-0 with Morton before succumbing to a defeat against Raith Rovers.
The draw for the third round of the competition produced 16 ties, with the winners advancing to the last 16. The full list of fixtures is available on the SPFL Trust website.
This match will provide Alloa with a stern test against a fellow Championship side. The Wasps will be looking to cause an upset and progress further in the competition, while Partick will be aiming to secure a win and build momentum after their disappointing start to the season.
