Aberdeen Boss Keeps Lips Tight on Nisbet and Younis Links
Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin has remained tight-lipped about the club's reported interest in Scotland international Kevin Nisbet and Australian winger Marcus Younis.
Following the record sale of Bojan Miovski to Girona last week, the Dons have been heavily linked with a move for the out-of-favour Millwall forward Nisbet. Reports have also suggested that the Pittodrie club are keen on 19-year-old Western Sydney Wanderers attacker Younis.
However, Thelin was unwilling to disclose any information regarding either player during his pre-match press conference on Thursday ahead of Sunday's Premiership clash with Kilmarnock.
"You're going to get the same answer today, I don't want to speak about other teams' players and other speculation," said the Swedish boss. "I think you are better than me to speculate, I will leave it to you."
Thelin adopted a similar approach when asked for an update on Luis 'Duk' Lopes, who has not featured for the club this season following an internal disciplinary issue stemming from his late return for pre-season training.
The manager declined to discuss the forward's situation further than to confirm that "he is not here", with no further questions permitted on the matter.
Thelin was similarly reticent about his plans for the remaining week of the transfer window, though he expressed a desire to give opportunities to fringe players such as Jack Milne and Pape Habib Gueye.
"We have some ideas and visions for the future but we also try to think about⦠you see Jack Milne doing really well in the last game and Pape Habib has also done some good things on the pitch," said Thelin.
"I look at the training sessions and everyone is competing, so my focus is with them right now.
"We also have to respect the window, in both directions, and be prepared. Someone could come for our players so you always have to be prepared, thinking about the short term and the long term."
With the transfer window approaching its close, Aberdeen fans will be keen to see if Thelin's silence indicates a lack of progress in pursuing potential signings, or whether he is simply playing his cards close to his chest.
