What Samsung is shipping and why it matters

Samsung is expanding its entry-level and midrange lineup with two devices meant for mainstream users who want modern features without flagship prices. The new Galaxy A17 5G and Galaxy Tab A11+ bring improved displays, longer software support, and Galaxy AI tools like Circle to Search and Gemini to more buyers.

Galaxy A17 5G: core smartphone features

The Galaxy A17 5G focuses on essentials: a slimmer design, a 6.7" FHD+ Super AMOLED panel with up to 90Hz, and a large 5,000mAh battery that can reach about 50% in roughly 30 minutes with 25W Super Fast Charging. Durability is improved with IP54 ingress protection and Gorilla Glass Victus up front.

Photography gets a boost with a 50MP main sensor and optical image stabilization (OIS) for steadier videos and brighter low-light shots. Performance hinges on Samsung’s Exynos 1330, which also enables on-device Galaxy AI features such as Circle to Search and access to Gemini conversational tools.

Samsung commits to six years of security updates and six generations of One UI and Android upgrades for the A17, an unusually long support window in this price segment.

Galaxy Tab A11+: family-ready tablet

The Tab A11+ targets shared-family use with an 11" 90Hz TFT LCD (1920 x 1200), Corning Gorilla Glass 3, and quad speakers tuned for Dolby Atmos. It runs Android 16 and uses a MediaTek MT8775 octa-core processor paired with options up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.

Battery capacity (7040mAh) and up to 25W charging keep the tablet usable for long sessions, and Samsung brings Circle to Search and quick Gemini access to the Tab A series for the first time. It also supports DeX Standalone Edition for a desktop-like experience without a PC.

Galaxy A17 5G goes on sale Jan. 7 starting at $199.99 for 4GB/128GB in Black, Blue and Gray, with microSD expansion up to 2TB. Galaxy Tab A11+ arrives Jan. 8 from $249.99 with up to 8GB/256GB and optional 5G models. Both will be sold through carriers, major retailers and Samsung.com.
