Overview

Asus has revealed the ROG Swift PG27UCWM, a 27" class gaming monitor that uses LG Display's 4th‑generation Tandem WOLED panel. The new panel swaps the previous RGWB layout for an RGB‑stripe sub‑pixel structure to improve text clarity and colour rendering at a high pixel density (~166 PPI).

Panel and image quality

The PG27UCWM offers a native 3840×2160 "4K" resolution on a 26.5" flat screen and targets demanding users who want pixel‑dense OLED clarity. Asus lists a 0.03ms G2G response and 99% DCI‑P3 coverage with 10‑bit depth, backed by factory calibration (dE <2).

Switching to an RGB‑stripe layout removes the white sub‑pixel used in earlier WOLED designs, which the companies say reduces colour washout and improves perceived sharpness for text and UI elements.

Brightness & HDR

LG Display's numbers for this panel indicate modest SDR brightness (250 nits) but strong HDR peaks: up to 1000 nits at 1.5% APL, 500 nits at 10% APL and 250 nits at 100% APL. The panel is expected to meet VESA DisplayHDR 500 True Black and will support Dolby Vision alongside HDR10.

Asus claims the RGB approach yields "up to 27% larger colour volume, especially at high luminance levels, to give gamers richer, more vibrant colours."

Performance and gaming features

The monitor is aimed squarely at gamers, offering a 240Hz native refresh rate with a dual‑mode option to push 480Hz at a lowered 1080p resolution. Adaptive‑sync and VRR support are included for compatible GPUs and consoles.

Design, connectivity and extras

The PG27UCWM follows Asus' recent ROG aesthetic in a black finish. Key connectivity includes DisplayPort 2.1a (UHBR20), USB‑C with DisplayPort Alt Mode and 90W power delivery, plus HDMI 2.1. Asus also lists OLED Care Pro features and a Neo Proximity Sensor; KVM and PiP/PbP are likely based on previous models.

Availability

Asus plans to showcase the PG27UCWM at CES; pricing and wider availability are not yet announced. Expect hands‑on previews and full reviews as units reach reviewers during the show.
