Zoe Ball's Radio 2 Absence Continues, Scott Mills Steps In

BBC Radio 2 listeners were left surprised once again on Monday morning when Zoe Ball was absent from her usual breakfast show slot, marking her second consecutive absence.

This time, the station's popular presenter Scott Mills stepped in to fill the gap, kicking off his stint with a playful introduction. "Good morning! You weren't expecting me, were you?" he announced, reassuring listeners that they hadn't overslept. "Welcome to Monday, this is Scott Mills. If you set your alarm for 6.30 and normally Zoe comes on, please do not freak out, you have not overslept until 2pm, I'm here doing the breakfast show, so do not panic, you're not late for work."

Despite his lighthearted approach, the news of Zoe's absence sparked a flurry of comments on social media. Many listeners expressed concern, with some questioning her whereabouts. "Where is #ZoeBall AGAIN….." one tweeted, while another exclaimed, "Zoe Ball MIA again?? WTF?". Another listener quipped, "Zoe Ball must have full sick pay entitlement - She's never there."

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Zoe's absence, listeners were quick to praise Scott for stepping in, with many calling for him to become a permanent fixture on the breakfast show. "Scott Mills on Radio 2 now covering the Breakfast show for Zoe Ball and he's sounding brilliant," one fan tweeted, while another simply stated, "Scott Mills in place of Zoe Ball, make it permanent."

The recent absences have added to the mystery surrounding Zoe's schedule. Last week, she had teased an interview with singer Will Young on Friday morning, sharing an Instagram Story the previous evening, stating "Jumping in to album release day tomorrow on @bbcradio2. @zoetheball bring your swimmers." Zoe replied, "See you at dawn". However, it was Gaby Roslin who presented the show that morning, without addressing Zoe's absence. While she posted on social media, "Hello there. I'm in for Zoe Ball from 6.30, which is in just a couple of minutes time," she did not explain the reason for Zoe's unavailability.

As of yet, there has been no official statement from either Zoe or the BBC regarding the reasons for her absence.
