Weaving Won't Re-Enter Middle-earth: "I Don't Want to Go Back There"

Hugo Weaving, the iconic actor who portrayed Elrond in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy, has revealed he hasn't watched Amazon's *The Rings of Power*. The actor, known for his roles in *The Matrix

and *The Lord of the Rings*, expressed his reluctance to revisit the world of Middle-earth.

"I haven't seen it, and apologies to Robert [Aramayo, who plays Elrond in the series]," Weaving said. "No, I spent too long in Middle-earth, and I don't particularly want to go back there. I love New Zealand, I recently went back to New Zealand."

Weaving explained that, despite the scale of the franchise, he doesn't view his role in the films with the same level of significance as many fans do. "It's funny," he said, "I think when you spend so much time on a particular piece, and in one way… it's a big, big film, huge franchise, but for me, kind of, in a funny way, not a role that I think of with the same sort of stature in my head as it might do for fans."

While he might not be returning to Middle-earth on screen, Weaving is currently starring in Apple TV+'s acclaimed spy thriller *Slow Horses*, playing Frank Harkness in the show's fourth season. This season features a host of new cast members, including Ruth Bradley, James Callis, Joanna Scanlan, and Tom Brooke. Returning stars for season 4 include Gary Oldman, Jack Lowden, Kristin Scott-Thomas, Rosalind Eleazar, Saskia Reeves, and Jonathan Pryce.

*The Rings of Power

season 2 is set to premiere on Prime Video on 29th August. *Slow Horses* season 4 will begin streaming on Apple TV+ from Wednesday, 4th September.
