TIFF Returns to Glamour: A-List Stars and Award Contenders

The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is back with a bang, reclaiming its reputation as a haven for Hollywood A-listers after a year of labor strikes thinned the ranks of big-name talent. This September, the festival will be buzzing with star power as it unveils world premieres for a slew of high-profile projects.

Pamela Anderson makes a triumphant return to the big screen in "The Last Showgirl," directed by Gia Coppola. The film, which premiered as a work-in-progress at Cannes, explores the bittersweet journey of a Las Vegas dancer forced to confront her past and find a new path after her long-running show is abruptly canceled.

Jennifer Lopez joins forces with Jharrel Jerome and Ben Affleck and Matt Damon as producers for "Unstoppable," a gripping tale about a wrestling champion born without his right leg, who struggles against an abusive upbringing.

Music lovers are in for a treat as TIFF showcases two documentaries: "Andrea Bocelli: Because I Believe," celebrating the legendary Italian tenor, and "Piece by Piece," Morgan Neville's animated exploration of the life and work of Pharrell Williams, crafted entirely from Lego figures.

Ron Howard's star-studded ensemble drama "Eden," featuring Ana de Armas, Sydney Sweeney, Vanessa Kirby, and Jude Law, promises an intriguing look into a world where the lines between reality and fantasy blur.

Other notable narrative premieres include:

"Hard Truths," the latest offering from Mike Leigh, marking a reunion with "Secrets & Lies" star Marianne Jean-Baptiste.

"We Live in Time," a romantic drama directed by John Crowley ("Brooklyn," "Boy A") and starring Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield.

"The Friend," directed by Scott McGehee and David Siegel, starring Naomi Watts, Bill Murray, Ann Dowd, and Constance Wu.

"Millers in Marriage," starring Julianna Margulies, directed by Ed Burns.
