'The Traitors' Producer Condemns UK Riots, Offers Support to Staff

Seven days of unrest on British streets have prompted Studio Lambert, the production company behind popular shows like "The Traitors" and "Squid Game: The Challenge," to issue a statement condemning the violence and offering support to its employees.

The email, signed by founder Stephen Lambert and his leadership team, addressed the "deeply affecting events" unfolding across the UK, following the tragic stabbing of three girls at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport last week.

The initial unrest was fuelled by misinformation circulating on social media falsely claiming the suspected assailant, Axel Rudakubana, was an asylum seeker. This narrative, further amplified by X/Twitter owner Elon Musk, who has been critical of Prime Minister Keir Starmer and alleged Britain is on the brink of civil war, has intensified anger and unrest online.

Studio Lambert's statement unequivocally condemned the violence, vandalism, and discrimination witnessed in recent days, calling it "shocking" and highlighting the ongoing challenges in creating an inclusive society. The company, owned by All3Media, expressed its firm stance against all forms of discrimination, racism, and violence, aiming to foster a work environment free from any form of abuse.

In a proactive step, Studio Lambert reminded employees of its anti-harassment and bullying policy and provided access to resources like counselling, ensuring their well-being during this unsettling period. The email also offered flexibility for staff who may prefer to work from home, encouraging open communication with line managers regarding safety concerns.

Studio Lambert's intervention is believed to be one of the first of its kind from a major player in the UK television industry, reflecting the widespread concern surrounding the ongoing unrest. The company's decisive response underlines its commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive environment for its employees amidst these challenging times.
