The Chase: Brian Conley Snaps at Audience After Bradley Walsh's Dig

The Chase, the popular ITV quiz show, saw a light-hearted moment turn into a humorous outburst during a celebrity edition. While host Bradley Walsh couldn't resist a playful jab at EastEnders star Brian Conley, the audience's laughter prompted an unexpected reaction from the contestant.

In the repeat episode aired on Saturday night, viewers witnessed Jon Sopel, Maisie Summers-Newton, Perri Shakes-Drayton, and Brian Conley face off against quiz expert Jenny 'The Vixen' Ryan. After Jon and Perri were eliminated, Maisie secured a commendable £8,000 in her final chase. However, when it was Brian's turn to face Jenny, Bradley's lighthearted quip about his chances sparked a reaction from the audience.

As Brian prepared for his cashbuilder round, Bradley jested, "We have £8,000, eight questions answered correctly by Maisie. What we've got to do now is match that with Brian, wow." The comment, intended as a playful dig, triggered a wave of laughter from the audience. This elicited a playful outburst from Brian, who shouted, "Shut up!!"

It seemed that Bradley and Brian, who described themselves as "brothers from another mother," share a long-standing friendship. Despite Bradley's playful dig, Brian received a warm reception from the audience and confidently assured Bradley of his performance. The two actors even reminisced about their 40-year friendship, revealing that they are often mistaken for each other.

"It's extraordinary!" exclaimed Bradley, "Yet I don't think we look alike at all."

"Well not now, I've dyed my hair grey just to get away from looking like you," quipped Brian, causing Bradley to erupt in laughter.

After Brian successfully answered five questions in his cashbuilder round, he opted to risk his earnings despite a tempting offer of £132,000. During the face-off with Jenny, Brian endured several nerve-wracking moments but ultimately rejoined Maisie at the contestant's table.

The duo, aiming for a combined £13,000 for their chosen charities, needed to answer eleven questions correctly to outrun Jenny. The tight two-minute timeframe proved challenging as Jenny caught them with 47 seconds remaining. However, in a gesture of goodwill, Bradley announced that, despite losing the chase, both contestants would receive a £1,000 donation each to their respective charities.

This episode of The Chase, showcasing both the competitive spirit of the show and the light-hearted camaraderie between contestants and host, is available to watch on ITVX.
