Teletubbies' Sun Baby Returns: Jess Smith Makes This Morning Appearance with Daughter

Jess Smith, the iconic baby from the beloved children's show "Teletubbies," appeared on "This Morning" alongside her own little one, five-month-old Poppy. Smith, now 30, was joined by original "Teletubbies" stars Nikky Smedley (Laa-Laa) and John Simmit (Dipsy), as they reminisced about their time on the show.

When asked if she often talks about her claim to fame, Smith laughed, stating, "I don't, but everyone I'm with knows so everyone else tells everybody. My partner Ricky tells everyone, as do both our families. So, it doesn't matter where I go, everyone knows!"

Speaking about how she landed the role, Smith revealed a stroke of luck during a hospital visit. "I was being weighed at the hospital, and apparently, I was a bit of a crybaby back then," she said. "The only way my mum could settle me was to take me to the hospital, which was the furthest point in our village. The producer had been there that same day and asked for any baby names to be forwarded, so that's how it happened. It was like a mini audition, and I got the part!"

Hosts Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle remarked on Smith's "bright blue eyes" that haven't changed since her "Teletubbies" days. They playfully asked if Poppy might take on the gig for the upcoming "Teletubbies" reboot. Smith, beaming, replied, "We'd absolutely go for it. It would be so lovely to see her take on my role from when I was little. To carry on my legacy."
