Taylor Swift Vienna Concerts Cancelled Due to Alleged Terror Threat

Three Taylor Swift concerts in Vienna, Austria, have been cancelled following the arrest of two individuals suspected of plotting a terrorist attack in the region. The concerts, scheduled for Thursday 8th to Saturday 10th August, were cancelled by promoter Barracuda Music after Austrian authorities confirmed the threat.

Police confirmed the arrest of a 19-year-old Austrian citizen, identified as a supporter of the Islamic State, on Wednesday morning in Ternitz, Lower Austria. A second arrest was made later that morning in Vienna. The suspects, both of whom are believed to have been radicalised online, were allegedly planning to target events in the Vienna area.

The arrest of the 19-year-old, who pledged allegiance to the current leader of IS in July, followed the discovery of suspected explosives at his home in Ternitz. Authorities also seized chemical substances from the residence, which are currently being analysed.

Barracuda Music stated that, "With confirmation from government officials of a planned terrorist attack at Ernst Happel Stadium, we have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone’s safety." Swift's official website also confirmed the cancellation of the shows.

A spokesperson for Taylor Swift has not yet commented on the situation.

All tickets for the cancelled concerts will be automatically refunded within the next 10 working days, according to the concert promoter.

The investigation into the alleged terrorist threat is ongoing. This is a developing story and will be updated with further information as it becomes available.
