Tadej PogaÄar's Colnago Goes Under the Hammer
Tadej PogaÄar's limited edition Colnago "Fleur-de-Lys 001/111" is currently up for auction on Sotheby's, and with just hours left, the bidding has already surpassed the price of many ordinary bikes. While the current price sits at 35,000 GBP, a relative bargain compared to Sotheby's estimated six-figure sum, a flurry of activity is expected at the last minute as bidders vie for this unique piece of cycling history.
This particular bike, built to PogaÄar's specifications, holds a special place in cycling history. It was reserved as the first of only 111 Colnago C68 Fleur-de-Lys bikes, crafted to celebrate the Tour de France Grand Départ in Italy. The remaining 110 bikes have already sold, making this the only one available.
Though PogaÄar rode the bike during the UAE Team Emirates' rider presentation in June, its actual use remains unclear. The new owner is unlikely to use the bike for regular rides, making it more of a collector's item than a daily commuter.
The Sotheby's auction closes today at 12:01 PM EDT, offering a rare opportunity to own a piece of cycling history.
