Taylor Swift fans without tickets to her upcoming London Eras Tour shows at Wembley Stadium have been warned against gathering outside the venue.
Wembley Stadium, which will host five concerts from Thursday, 15 August, has issued a statement urging fans to refrain from participating in the "Tay-Gating" phenomenon, which sees ticketless fans congregate outside concert venues to hear the show. The stadium's website states, "Wembley Stadium is situated in a residential area. We kindly ask that only those with tickets or those visiting our merchandise megastore turn up to the stadium to avoid disruption to the local residents and businesses."
The venue has also explicitly banned standing outside any entrance or on the Olympic Steps at the front of the stadium, highlighting the need to facilitate safe entry and exit for all concertgoers. The statement further warns that anyone found without a ticket will be moved on.
This request follows a similar situation in Munich, where an estimated 50,000 fans camped out in the rolling hills behind the Olympiastadion during Swift's Eras Tour concerts in late June. The singer acknowledged the impressive turnout on social media, expressing her gratitude for the "unexpected memories" created by the experience.
Swift's return to Wembley Stadium comes after the cancellation of her Vienna concerts at Ernst Happel Stadium due to an alleged terror attack. While authorities confirmed the arrest of three individuals in connection with the planned attack, the Metropolitan Police has assured the public that the incident will not affect the upcoming London shows.
Ahead of the London concerts, Wembley Stadium has implemented enhanced security measures, including mandatory checks for all attendees and a strict ban on weapons of any kind.
The Met Police has also reassured the public that the capital's venues host numerous high-profile events each year, and millions of visitors have consistently enjoyed safe and enjoyable experiences.
Swift's London shows, which run until 20 August, will feature support acts from Paramore, Griff, and Suki Waterhouse, among others.
