Swiatek Invites Swift to US Open After Handwritten Note

World No. 1 tennis player Iga Swiatek has extended an open invitation to pop icon Taylor Swift to attend the US Open, months after the singer sent her a heartfelt handwritten letter.

Swiatek, a five-time Grand Slam champion and a strong contender for the New York title, is a devoted fan of Swift. She was visibly moved when Swift reached out to congratulate her on winning the French Open earlier this year.

In a pre-tournament video, Swiatek publicly invited Swift to come and watch her compete at Flushing Meadows. "Taylor Swift and Travis (Kelce), I want to invite Taylor Swift to come to the US Open and enjoy tennis and the show," Swiatek said, adding with a chuckle, "For sure I will be stressed when she comes to my match."

Swiatek, the top seed, will begin her US Open campaign on Tuesday with a first-round match against unseeded Kamilla Rakhimova on Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Swift, currently in Rhode Island, is less than 200 miles away from the tournament venue. She recently reunited with her boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce, after spending weeks apart due to his commitments with the Kansas City Chiefs and her own Eras Tour dates in Europe.

In June, Swiatek shared a picture of Swift's handwritten letter on social media, revealing her tearful reaction to the heartfelt message. "I'm dead," Swiatek wrote on X, referring to Swift's concert in Liverpool. "Yes, I cried many times during the show. Yes, it was incredible. You are amazing Taylor Swift."

While Swiatek awaits a possible visit from Swift, Kelce is preparing for the NFL season opener on September 5th, when his team, the Kansas City Chiefs, will face the Baltimore Ravens.

Whether or not Swift will accept Swiatek's invitation remains to be seen, but the prospect of the two stars meeting at the US Open has certainly captured the attention of fans and media alike.
