Sunday Brunch Chef Abruptly Exits, Leaving Hosts Bemused

A recent episode of Channel 4's popular Sunday Brunch saw a guest chef unexpectedly leave the show early, much to the amusement of the presenters.

The hit daytime programme, known for its mix of food, entertainment, and music, welcomed guests Vicky Pattinson, Jordan Stephens, Kerry Ellis, and Pete Tong on Sunday 18 August. Musical act Frank Turner also provided a live performance, while renowned chef Tom Kerridge was on hand to whip up culinary delights.

However, the episode took a humorous turn when it was revealed that Tom would be departing the show before its conclusion. After Kerridge presented a tempting burger creation, co-host Simon Rimmer enquired about his early exit, questioning: "You're going now, aren't you? You're not staying for the show?"

Tom's response, "I'm off!", prompted laughter from the other guests. When pressed about the reason for his early departure, the chef, a seasoned Sunday Brunch veteran, explained: "That's what time I was told I was going! 12 shows in and I come up here, I do what I'm told, then I go."

Tim Lovejoy, ever the comedian, took the opportunity to tease Tom, suggesting: "Maybe you got bored of coming?" This sparked further laughter from the chef.

This incident follows a recent interruption on the show, which occurred during last week's episode after a guest used inappropriate language on air. Former Pop Idol winner Will Young was recounting an awkward encounter at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, when he inadvertently let slip a swear word.

He was describing how a comedian at the Fringe had directed her show towards him, while he was seated in the front row. Young recounted: "The bulk of her show was about me, and obviously probably not very nice about me, and I was in the front row. She said 'I don't know what to do because my show's sort of taking the p**

out of Will Young and Will Young's sitting at the front."

Host Tim Lovejoy swiftly paused the show, issuing an apology to viewers for the language used. He stated: "I must apologise for using that word."

Sunday Brunch continues to entertain viewers every Sunday at 9:30am on Channel 4.
