'Spy Kids' Star Opens Up About Husband's Jealousy Over Love Scenes

Alexa PenaVega, known for her role in the "Spy Kids" franchise, has revealed that her husband, Carlos PenaVega, initially struggled with her filming love scenes. The couple, who have been married since 2014, discussed the issue during an interview with Fox News Digital.

Alexa explained that during the early days of their marriage, Carlos would experience bouts of jealousy when she was on set for such scenes. However, she believes their shared faith played a crucial role in easing those anxieties.

"Years ago, Carlos would get a little jealous, but I think the more confident and comfortable we became, and honestly, the closer we got to God, the more our roles started shifting with what we were taking on," she said. "There's so much trust in our relationship that there was never a need to be threatened by anybody else."

Carlos echoed his wife's sentiment, highlighting the importance of establishing healthy boundaries. He explained that he felt comfortable knowing that since their recent collaboration with Great American Family, any scenes Alexa films are within a safe and respectful environment.

"If she's not doing a movie with me, I know that whatever she's doing, whoever she's with, it's safe. And it's all going to be good. So, for us, this is such a great home for us," he shared.

The PenaVegas are currently working together on an upcoming Christmas film, which they also co-produced. Despite the inherent romantic elements of the project, the couple stated that they find the filming process comfortable and enjoyable.

"I think this movie in particular is really special because we were given the opportunity to produce this one. Like, this is our production company. It's the first one that we've been able to actually produce together, and from the ground up," Carlos said.

Alexa added, "It's been so much fun to get to live out these characters on the screen."

While the couple values their faith and finds fulfilment in faith-based projects, they are not limiting their careers to exclusively Christian films.

"We think faith-based films are really important, but I think, more importantly, are movies that are for the world, but they're made by kingdom-hearted people because we don't want to just make Christian movies," Alexa explained. "We want to make movies that just have so much meaning behind them, to where you walk away and feel really good and don't even know why. It's because everything in the movie is really coming from a kingdom heart, but we're talking about real-world things."

Carlos added, "Life can be ugly, but there's a way out, and let's show the world that."

The PenaVegas' journey together has been punctuated by both joy and hardship. In April 2024, they experienced the heartbreaking loss of their baby daughter, Indy, at birth. In the months since, they have drawn strength from their faith to navigate this difficult time.

"I don't know how people do it without God because we can't explain it other than it was like supernatural peace that didn't make sense," Alexa said. "It's beyond understanding. And yet we felt like God was just telling us, 'Hey, I am so sorry you had to go through this, but I am here for you, and I'm going to make a way for you.'"

The couple's story is a testament to the power of faith, the importance of communication, and the enduring strength of love in the face of adversity.
