Spooky Cinema Under the Stars: Cinespia's Thrilling October Lineup
Cinespia, the renowned Los Angeles film screening organisation, is bringing the chills this October with a spine-tingling lineup of classic horror films. Presented by Amazon MGM Studios, the series will feature a mix of cemetery screenings and a special Halloween night event at The Orpheum Theatre.
Kicking off the spooky season on Saturday, 5th October, is a 50th anniversary celebration of the original "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre" (1974) at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. This chilling classic, which set the bar for horror cinema, sees a group of teenagers encounter a terrifying rural family with a penchant for violence. Witness the chainsaw of events unfold beneath the stars, if you dare!
On Saturday, 12th October, Cinespia will host a 15th anniversary screening of "Coraline" at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, in collaboration with LAIKA. This stop-motion animated masterpiece follows young Coraline as she discovers a secret door leading to an alternate version of her life, complete with talking cats and "other" parents with button eyes. Though initially appealing, the other world soon reveals its sinister intentions, threatening to keep Coraline forever. Bring the family and friends for a delightful and spooky adventure.
Saturday, 19th October brings "Trick 'r Treat" to Hollywood Forever Cemetery. This cult classic interweaves a series of spooky stories, guaranteeing a scare every minute. From a school principal with a dark secret to a prank gone wrong, "Trick 'r Treat" delivers a bloody good time.
For a truly unforgettable Halloween experience, Cinespia will host a screening of the original "Suspiria" (1977) by Dario Argento at The Orpheum Theatre on Thursday, 31st October. This Giallo masterpiece, a visually stunning and atmospheric horror film, follows Suzy (Jessica Harper) as she enters a prestigious ballet school, only to discover a world of supernatural terror and deadly secrets.
