Spice Girls Reunion in Jeopardy: Geri Horner Quits Amid Mel B Feud

Geri Horner has reportedly pulled the plug on plans for a Spice Girls reunion tour, citing a bitter feud with bandmate Mel B as the reason.

The group had been discussing a new run of dates, even reaching out to Victoria Beckham about a potential cameo appearance, hoping to replicate the success of their previous shows. However, a growing rift between Geri and Mel B has reportedly driven a wedge between the group, leading Geri to withdraw entirely.

"Geri has had enough to deal with after all the drama with her husband's relationship with his assistant," a source told MailOnline. "It has been a tough enough time, and she's just lost patience with Mel and her little digs and jibes."

The source continued, "She's walked away and without Geri, it's really not going to happen. In the past, she's been a driving force in the group, but she doesn't want to deal with Mel at all at the moment, let alone share a stage with her."

The latest tension stems from Mel B's public online birthday message to Geri, where she wished her "Happy 75th Birthday" alongside unflattering photos from their heyday. This seemed to be a reference to Mel B's previous comments that Geri had lied about her age in the past.

Insiders claim there have been numerous "digs and jibes" behind the scenes, further infuriating Geri, who has also endured a challenging six months following allegations of inappropriate behaviour by her Formula One husband, Christian Horner, towards a female assistant.

The source added, "They've always had a tricky relationship, but this has got very messy now, and nobody has been able to smooth things over between them - so it's all off again."

MailOnline has contacted The Spice Girls' representatives for comment. Mel B's representative declined to comment.

This latest spat comes after a "frosty" reunion at Victoria Beckham's 50th birthday bash in April, where the five Spice Girls came together to celebrate. Despite a seemingly cheerful group photo, The Sun reported that Mel B and Geri's greeting was tense.

The feud dates back to Mel B's interview where she claimed Geri had lied about her age for years. Despite sharing global fame together, Mel B insisted she didn't know Geri's true age because she always kept her passport close at hand.

At Victoria's party, Mel B reportedly attempted to reconcile with Geri, but her efforts were met with indifference. A source told The Sun, "Mel tried to smooth things over with Geri at the party but it didn't go as planned. She was laughing it all off but Geri didn't seem interested in hearing what she had to say and wandered off. When it came to taking their group picture, Geri kept as far away from Mel as possible, which was awkward to watch. Geri wanted to be there to celebrate and have a good laugh with everyone, not talk to Mel about the embarrassing things she's said about her."

The ongoing tensions cast a shadow over the Spice Girls' future, particularly after Mel B's previous comments in March that a reunion was in the works. Despite her enthusiastic claims on Loose Women, the prospect of a reunion now seems uncertain, with Geri's exit leaving a significant void.

The Spice Girls last reunited professionally for a performance at the 2012 London Olympics closing ceremony. In 2019, the group embarked on a UK stadium tour, but Victoria Beckham opted out, citing her busy schedule with her fashion brand.

With Geri's departure and the ongoing feud with Mel B, the future of the Spice Girls remains uncertain. Whether they can overcome this latest hurdle or if this marks the end of their reunion plans remains to be seen.
