Song of the Heart: Gracie Abrams on New Music, Taylor Swift's Eras Tour & Lainey Wilson

Gracie Abrams, the rising singer-songwriter, opened up about her new album, her experience performing on Taylor Swift's "Eras Tour," and her friendship with fellow musician Lainey Wilson in a recent interview.

Abrams shed light on the connection between two songs on her albums: "I Miss You, I'm Sorry" and "I Love You, I'm Sorry." The latter, she explained, serves as a bookend to the story, offering a more mature perspective on the relationship. "There was kind of, like, lots of pure… just real love around it, after lots of time, and this song gave me somewhere to put all that."

When asked about her songwriting process, Abrams revealed that she frequently writes lyrics in her Notes app, alongside journaling. She even admitted to keeping her phone downstairs during the interview but ultimately took a "shot" (a juice shot) to avoid revealing the last thing she wrote down.

Abrams also described the magic of the "Eras Tour," specifically the third night in London. She shared that the night was made even more special by the presence of friends and family, especially her brother Auggie, who bonded with Travis Kelce and his friends. The experience, she said, was "a great time."

A question from Lainey Wilson, who performed on the plaza before Abrams, led to a heartfelt exchange between the two artists. Abrams expressed her admiration for Wilson's energy and support, calling her a "hype girl." The two artists discussed their desire to collaborate, with Abrams revealing a song on her album that she envisioned Wilson singing on.

In a rapid-fire round, Abrams declared her love for both Joe's Pizza and Scarr's Pizza but favoured Joe's for its accessibility. She shared her preference for cooking over baking and boasted about a recent successful steak cooking experience. When asked to choose between her current album, "Tortured Poets Department," and Taylor Swift's work, she jokingly considered taking a shot but ultimately chose "Tortured Poets."

The interview concluded with a charming request to Rauw Alejandro. Abrams, a fan of his music, expressed her desire to attend one of his shows, even if it meant standing in the nosebleeds. She asked for a presale code for his next tour, hoping to be able to see him perform live.
