Slipknot's Sid Wilson Hospitalised After Bonfire Explosion

Slipknot's turntablist Sid Wilson was hospitalised on Friday after suffering "severe burns" in a bonfire explosion. The 47-year-old musician shared details of the incident and his injuries in a series of Instagram Live videos.

"My face is burnt and my cheeks," Wilson said from his hospital bed. "I had an explosion in my face." He assured his fans, "I'm OK. I'm going to be OK, but I did have some serious burns in my face and my arms."

Wilson showed his followers close-up shots of his injuries, including singed eyebrows, a blister on his mouth, and burn marks across his face and arms. Doctors were examining him for internal damage, conducting chest X-rays to rule out the inhalation of flames. Despite his reassurances, Wilson visibly trembled as he held his phone, reflecting the trauma he had endured.

In a subsequent video, Wilson explained that the incident occurred while he was "out working on the farm" he shares with his girlfriend, Kelly Osbourne, in Iowa. He was trying to stoke a bonfire when it exploded.

Osbourne, who accompanied Wilson to the hospital, shared a warning on her Instagram Stories: "This is why you don't f--k with burn piles." She revealed that Wilson "literally set himself on fire; exploded everything."

The "Papa Don't Preach" singer, holding her and Wilson's one-year-old son, Sidney, added a "I Have No Words" GIF to another Instagram Story showcasing her son playing in the hospital room while his father recovered.

Despite the severity of his injuries, Wilson remained optimistic, assuring his fans that he would "do what it takes" to return to the tour. He later shared that he was being transferred to another facility for specialised burn treatment.

In his final Instagram post, Wilson concluded: "I'm going to be ok everyone. Love you all."

The incident serves as a reminder of the dangers associated with bonfires and the importance of fire safety. While Wilson appears to be on the road to recovery, the incident highlights the potential for serious injury in seemingly harmless activities.
